Distress Center 24-Hour Support and ConnecTeen (by Distress Center)

This is a free mental health phone crisis line that is available 24/7. If you need someone to talk to about mental health concerns, trained volunteers and professional staff can help assist. Concerns can include: addiction, grieving the loss of a loved one, getting over a recent break-up, worrying about losing your job, feeling lonely or isolated, having through of suicide, worrying you can’t pay your mortgage or utility bill, and more. Addictions and Mental Health Helpline

This is a mental health helpline that provides free mental health support if you need someone to talk to about mental health concerns or addictions. They also provide information about mental health programs and services. The mental health helpline is available 24/7 at: 1-877-303-2642 and the addictions helpline is available 24/7 at: 1-866-332-2322. The addictions line covers a variety of addictions such as: alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, gambling, and more.

Kids Help Phone

This is a free 24/7 crisis line for children, youth, and teens. They offer professional counselling, information, educational resources near you and referrals in English and French. Crisis Text Line (by Kids Help Phone)

This is a free 24/7 texting support line for people in crisis. Every texter is connected with a Crisis Responder that helps individuals through a crisis using active listening and collaborative problem-solving. Crisis Services Canada, Suicide Prevention and Support

This free service provides suicide prevention and support and is available through phone (24/7) or text (4pm-12am EST). They offer counselling, support and resources for individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or tendencies. If you’re thinking about suicide or are worried about a friend or loved one, please call 1-833-456-4566 or text 45645. This service is available in English and French. Wood’s Homes, Community Resource Team

The Community Resource Team provides free 24/7 crisis phone support for children and families. Services are offered in a variety of languages, including: English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Hungarian, Laotian, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish and Swahili. For 24/7 phone crisis support, please call 1-800-563-6106. You can also access crisis support through text or online chat (9am-10pm). They also offer mobile response and crisis support service programs through family visits (in-home or community), brief crisis support (1-3 visits), and they handle intake for the Community Stabilization program (for individuals up to 17 years of age). Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA)

CCASA is the primary sexual abuse and sexual assault crisis and education service provider for Calgary and surrounding areas. They provide free 24/7 phone support, sexual assault crisis intervention, emotional support, problem solving, information and referral, access to emergency accompaniment to police or hospital, and counselling. Their phone support is also extended to friends, family, and support people of the survivor. They also provide programs in sexual abuse education, and research and advocacy. Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter

This is a free 24-hour family violence helpline for victims, friends or family looking to support someone, or men looking for help. They can answer questions, provide counselling, safety planning and referrals. This Family Violence helpline provides counselling and support by a counsellor, free of charge. They also support in leaving an abusive partner, support to be safe while with an abusive partner, parenting support, and do intake for the Emergency Shelter and other programs provided at Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter. National Eating Disorder Information Center

They provide information, crisis hotline, resources, referrals and support to Canadians affected by eating disorders. They can help provide support, guidance and point to nearby resources. Kerby Center for Elderly Abuse Line

This is a free 24-hour helpline that connects individuals to the Elder Abuse Response Team. Elder abuse is any action or inaction by a person in a position of trust that causes harm to an older person. This includes emotional, physical, sexual, or financial abuse as well as neglect and violation of rights. The response team can help provide safety, emotional support and personal care support. Bullying Helpline

This is a free 24-hour bullying helpline to get help anonymously in more than 170 languages. They also have an online chat where you can speak anonymously to a trained staff member/counsellor.
